About Dr. Chizobam Idahosa

Dr. Chizobam Idahosa is triple board-certified in Oral Medicine, Orofacial Pain, and Lifestyle Medicine. Her clinical interests include diagnosing and managing oral mucosal disorders, orofacial neuropathies, temporomandibular disorders, oral oncology, premalignant lesions, oral complications of cancer therapy, oral infections, salivary gland disorders, and oral manifestations of systemic disease.

In plain language, Dr. Idahosa treats patients with burning mouth, jaw pain (TMD/TMJ), and prolonged oral and facial pain resulting from disorders in the nerves that supply the jaw and mouth. She also treats lesions in the mouth, such as canker sores, viral, bacterial, fungal infections, and oral ulcers resulting from various disorders. Also, she evaluates and manages patients with red and white patches in the mouth, which could indicate oral cancer. She also provides treatment for dry mouth and oral side effects of medications and systemic diseases.

Dr. Idahosa began her dental training at the University of Benin in Nigeria, where she received her BDS.
Her training continued with earning her DDS at New York University College of Dentistry and her General
Practice Residency training at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. She then pursued and completed her
specialty training in Oral Medicine and her Master of Science in Oral Biology at The University of
Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine
. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Medicine, American Board of Orofacial Pain, and American College of Lifestyle Medicine.

Dr. Idahosa is currently a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. She was formerly at Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry, where she taught and directed multiple courses for over seven years.

Dr. Idahosa has lectured and published articles on Oral Medicine and Orofacial Pain topics and received a Case Report Award from the American Academy of Oral Medicine. She is one of the contributing authors of the prestigious textbook, Contemporary Oral Medicine as well as two Clinician's Guides from the American Academy of Oral Medicine.

 

Dr. Idahosa is a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society, and she received the Robert Schattner Award for Outstanding Oral Medicine Resident from the University of Pennsylvania.
